Moving in St. George
What a Drennan move looks like in St. George.
St. George is Staten Island's most vertical neighborhood: ferry-adjacent apartment buildings, converted brownstones, and hillside houses with more steps to the street than rooms inside.
Buildings here almost always want a certificate of insurance and a booked service elevator, and the ferry-district streets fill with commuter traffic by 7:30 AM. We handle the COI paperwork with your building, reserve the elevator window, and schedule the load around the ferry rush. On the hillside blocks with public stair streets we bring extra crew instead of extra trips — more hands is cheaper for you than more hours.
Neighborhoods we work in regularly around St. George: St. George Terrace, New Brighton, Stapleton edge, Ferry District. If your street is not on that list, it is still ours — call Bill at (718) 317-5100 and he will tell you exactly how we would run it.

These are the real flat-rate ranges we quote St. George families, not a teaser price. Costs, timing and storage in St. George.
How much does a mover cost in St. George?
+
Most local St. George moves are flat-rate. A one-bedroom apartment typically starts around $600, a two-bedroom home runs roughly $900–$1,400, and a three- to four-bedroom house is usually $1,600–$2,800 depending on stairs, packing and how much is in the basement or garage. You get the exact number in writing before moving day — no hourly meter, no surprise fuel or stair charges.
How far in advance should I book a move in St. George?
+
Two to three weeks is comfortable, and end-of-month and Saturday dates in St. George go first. That said, we are 28 minutes from the warehouse, so short-notice and same-week jobs are often possible — call Bill at (718) 317-5100 and he will tell you straight whether a crew is free.
Do you move out of St. George long distance?
+
Yes. We are a Wheaton World Wide Moving agent (USDOT 070719), so we move St. George families anywhere in the lower 48 — the Carolinas, Florida, Texas and the Southwest are our most common runs. The same crew that loads your house is the crew that unloads it. No broker hand-off.
Can you store my belongings between closings?
+
We have climate-controlled, alarmed and inventoried storage at our own warehouse at 16 Brienna Court, Staten Island — about 28 minutes from St. George. Short-term holds between closings are routine, and redelivery is on your timeline.
Do you offer same-day or short-notice moving in St. George?
+
Often, yes. Because our trucks and crews are based 28 minutes from the warehouse, we can sometimes cover a same-week or next-day St. George job when a closing moves or a landlord changes the date. Midweek is easiest; end-of-month Fridays and Saturdays are the hardest. One phone call to (718) 317-5100 gets you a straight yes or no, not a callback.
Are you licensed and insured for moves in St. George, NY?
+
Yes — Joseph F. Drennan & Sons Inc. has operated under USDOT 070719 since 1952 and is an agent for Wheaton World Wide Moving. We carry cargo, liability and workers' compensation coverage, we file certificates of insurance directly with St. George buildings and condo associations that require them, and full-value protection is available on any move instead of the bare-minimum per-pound coverage.
